Native Range: Southern US, considered invasive in parts of the North

Site Requirements:

Soil: adaptable to many soil types

Water: medium to wet

Sunlight needs: Full sun

Tolerates: Wet soil

Landscape use: often used for erosion control, windbreaks and screens

Brief Description: Easily grown shrub only appropriate for naturalized sites, but grows in a variety of conditions. Spreads aggressively. 

Possible Problems: No serious insect or disease problems. Susceptible to leaf spot, powdery mildew, twig canker and rust.

Stand out Features: Thicket forming via self-seeding and suckers.
