1990 | St. Louis is nationally recognized for planting 10,000 large trees in one day at North Riverfront Park in an effort coordinated by St. Louis Area Global ReLeaf. This event provided the “seed” for the formation of the organization |
1993 | Forest ReLeaf of Greater St. Louis is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization |
1994 | The first public tree bank is established by Forest ReLeaf at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in north St. Louis County; Project ReLeaf begins |
1995 | The organization’s name is changed to Forest ReLeaf of Missouri to reflect the organization's new, statewide outreach; Priority ReLeaf begins |
1996 | Forest ReLeaf’s new community nursery, now known as Project CommuniTree, is dedicated in Berkeley, MO; the TreeKeepers and Forestkeepers programs are launched |
1997 | Forest ReLeaf becomes the official volunteer coordinator for the state’s urban and community forestry activities for the Missouri Department of Conservation |
1998 | Winner of the “National Arbor Day Foundation Education Award” for the Forestkeepers program; the first trees are harvested at Project CommuniTree |
1999 | Winner of 1999 “Conservation Organization of the Year” from the Conservation Federation of Missouri; nearly 900 trees are provided to Operation Brightside through Priority ReLeaf for planting in preparation for the Papal visit to St. Louis |
2000 | The award-winning “Experts Agree: Don’t Top Your Tree” campaign is launched in partnership with the Missouri Community Forestry Council; the first annual Exceptional ReLeaf Awards are presented on Arbor Day to recognize outstanding community plantings |
2001 | Ameren becomes the Major Sponsor of Project CommuniTree, Forest ReLeaf’s community nursery; Project ReLeaf surpasses the 20,000 mark in trees distributed since the program was initiated |
